GREG COLSON: New Aggregate Paintings and 2 or 3 Objects
JOEL MORRISON: New Works
JAMES TURRELL: Autonomous Structures
January 17 – March 13, 2004
GRIFFIN is pleased to announce concurrent solo exhibitions by Greg Colson and Joel Morrison, with James Turrell in the Project Room.
In the Main Gallery, Greg Colson presents New Aggregate Paintings and 2 or 3 Objects -including a series of drawn and painted wood panels, in which multiple visual systems collapse upon each other. The resulting tangles of line and form appear abstract, but actually represent specific processes and forms of energy. This is Colson's response to a world in which, through the projection of technology, virtually any "thing" has the potential to wield influence, for better and worse.
Colson has had exhibitions throughout the United States and Europe, including Sperone Westwater (New York), Galleria Cardi (Milan), Konrad Fischer (Dusseldorf), Kunsthalle Lophem (Bruges, Belgium) and the Lannan Museum (Lake Worth, Florida). His works are in the Panza Collection in Switzerland, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington D.C., the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, and the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles, among other public collections. |
